Job Description
Heavy Duty Equipment Technician safely repairs, troubleshoots, adjusts, overhauls and maintains mobile heavy‑duty equipment throughout the mine and milling operation. The technicians work collaboratively with planning and the team to deliver execution of the integrated plan and schedule.
Key ResponsibilitiesArea 1:
- Safely repairs, troubleshoots, adjusts, overhauls and maintains mobile heavy‑duty equipment throughout the mine and milling operation.
- Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required.
- Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications.
- Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment.
- Service attachments and working tools.
- Ensure all equipment is maintained and used in accordance with company health and safety standards.

- Watch for inefficiencies or problems.
- Ensure problems and inefficiencies are shared with others.
- Work collaboratively to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
- Consider risk along the five dimensions (throughput, time, quality, sustainability and cost).
- Provide accurate and consistent technical reporting.
- Being stakeholder of the Cote Gold golden rules.
Area 3:
- Coordinate with other team members on site to meet shift deliverables.
- Mentor and train new team members.
- Participate in and lend your expertise to the team.
- Communicate clearly and effectively using the tools provided.
- Ensure equipment logs and shift logs are accurate and complete.
- Ensure any deficiencies are communicated to the appropriate team members for follow up.
- Participate in multi‑disciplinary teams to deliver on our commitment to our team, our communities, the environment, and our shareholders.
Minimum qualifications, formal education, certifications or equivalents:
- College diploma in heavy equipment technician or another related field.
- Certificate of Qualification in Ontario is preferred.
- Completed apprenticeship is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of related work experience.
- Previous experience in open pit mining is considered an asset.
- Proficiency in computer applications and maintenance softwares.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work independently and in team settings.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Knowledge of Service Information System (SIS), Electronic Technician (ET), Hydraulic Information System (HIS) for CAT equipment is an asset.
- Experience with Mine Star is an asset.
