Under the supervision of the Manager of Engineering, the Surveyor Helper will be responsible for the surveying, design, and data collection for engineering projects.
Responsibilities- Topographic surveys for use in preparation of contract drawings.
- Co‑ordination and data collection for G.I.S.
- Coordinate and assist in the delegation and verification of survey and design works.
- Assist Engineering staff in overseeing the contractor’s work regarding roadwork, storm and sanitary sewers and water mains.
- Perform asphalt, granular ‘A’, granular ‘B’, water leakage tests, and concrete tests.
- Compile daily contract notes on the job site.
- Take necessary measurements for tracking of all unit cost items (i.e. earth excavation, granular etc.) for progress and final payment certificates.
- Make as‑built plans for the contract.
- Flexibility to work overtime as required.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Graduated or currently enrolled in a University recognized by the Professional Engineers of Ontario (P.E.O.) or holding a College diploma in civil engineering.
- Must be proficient in the following: survey and handheld equipment, Total Station, and conventional level and transit.
- Ability to work with deadlines and many multiple tasks in a short period of time.
- Must possess computer skills with experience in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and GIS applications.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- ACI field concrete testing certificate an asset.
- Current WHMIS certificate an asset.
