Position Details
Title: Designated Early Childhood Educator - Temporary
Location: W. Earle Miller Public School
Start Date: As soon as possible (temporary position until June 25, 2026 or return of absent employee)
Position Details: 1.0 (full-time, 35 hours/week)

Qualifications- Registered in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
- Collaborate with the classroom teacher and principal to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities that reflect the Full-Day Early Learning‑Kindergarten Program
- Co‑facilitate play‑based activities that allow students to demonstrate learning related to the four frames of the Full‑Day Early Learning‑Kindergarten Program
- Effectively and efficiently observe and document student learning using a variety of tools and techniques to assist the educator in the assessment of the development of students
- Collaborate with the classroom teacher to promote and maintain a healthy physical, emotional and social learning environment
- Assume other duties/responsibilities specifically related to the functions of children and the effective delivery of the Early Learning Curriculum as determined by the Principal and the Superintendent of Education
- Thorough understanding of the Ministry of Educations Full‑Day Early Learning‑Kindergarten Program
- Thorough understanding of the developmental continuum for this age group
- Demonstrated appropriate behaviour management techniques with individuals, small and large groups
- Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills in working with students, teachers, principals, and families
- Demonstrated professional communication skills
- Demonstrated initiative, positive thinking, critical thinking, and sound decision‑making skills
Salary in accordance with the current OSSTF‑DECE collective agreement
$25.03 per hour - $33.80 per hour
