Tilton Mid-Shift Troubleshooter
Starting Rate of Pay: $61.40 per hour
Shift ScheduleRotating 3-2-2-3 shift working the hours of 10AM – 10PM.
Position DescriptionTroubleshooters generally work as a single man crew. Individuals will work on energized and de-energized lines and equipment at all voltage levels, utilizing approved work methods, equipment, and tools in accordance with current training levels. Responsibilities include identifying and isolating faulty primary and secondary equipment; operating switching devices on overhead and URD systems; working with Field Electricians on overhead and underground systems;
clearing faulty and unsafe conditions including maintaining, restoring electrical service; connecting, disconnecting, and operating portable transformers, generators, and temporary primary jumpers to restore service under emergency or urgent conditions. Work with the Substation group to connect mobile substations; replace failed transformers with the assistance of another qualified person; replace damaged or faulty services during the initial response or as a follow up corrective maintenance after a temporary repair has been made;
repair and re-energize primary; perform street light installation and repair; install and remove protective covers; perform overhead and underground inspections and patrols and perform additional security, perimeter and emergency inspections of substations as necessary; make current and voltage measurements as required; direct the work of other Lineworkers assigned or necessary to assist with emergency conditions; apply standards, operating procedures, service requirements, and safe operating practices relating to the work without reference to notes on work of a recurring nature;
operate and adjust overhead and pad-mounted controlled equipment inspections as required.
Familiarity with line crew work gained through a total of at least four years line related experience and obtaining a Lineworker I classification or the equivalent is required. Individuals must have mechanical aptitude, a thorough knowledge of the electric transmission and distribution system, be analytical, alert, resourceful, and have a work history that demonstrates safe work habits. The ability to climb is required.
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, day or night. Ability to perform physically demanding work, including climbing, lifting, and working aloft in a bucket and in confined spaces. Must be able to respond to storm emergencies, extended shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays as required. Must obtain and maintain a New Hampshire High/Medium Voltage License. A Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B rating is required.
You must also have the ability to obtain a CDL Class A rating with an "0" endorsement within six months of hire.
Must successfully complete and pass a written and practical test before an offer is made for a Troubleshooter position.
Bargaining unit employees with rights to this post will be given first consideration to be tested by order of seniority.
