The New Hampshire Veterans Home has a full-time, 1st shift vacancy for a Security Officer II. Proposed schedule includes: 8:00am - 4:00pm shifts. Must be flexible for additional/adjusted hours/schedule.

ResponsibilitiesProvides security/safety coverage through enforcement of established policies and procedures, and patrol and inspection functions to protect the NH Veterans Home (NHVH) against fire, theft, safety hazards and vandalism. Develops and provides training and oversight to Security Officer I positions on the security software system and cameras. Assists with the development and presentation of safety programs for residents and staff at the NH Veterans Home.
Routinely patrols NH Veterans Home, its grounds, and parking lots for security and prevention of vandalism, thefts, and fire and safety hazards. Assists in overseeing contractors working in the agency to ensure compliance with NHVH safety policies.
Manages security system software used to produce and deactivate employee electronic key cards; tracks changes, identifies and resolves process issues, and maintains keys for doors without system access. Ensures proper key control processes.
Develops and provides training for Security Officer I positions on security software and camera views; tailors video surveillance settings for all shifts.
Delivers ongoing safety training for NHVH employees, visitors and residents as appropriate. Checks mechanical equipment and reports issues to ensure a safe environment. Responds to alarms (burglary, mechanical, fire, code orange, personal safety) and assists residents/staff as needed. Maintains duty logs and generates reports on incidents, accidents, alarms, thefts, etc.
Conducts fire and other drills, tests alarm systems, and operates CCTV equipment. Investigates criminal activities, prepares inspection/investigation reports, and handles workers compensation reports. Oversees Safety and Security Office in the absence of the supervisor.
Recommends policy and procedure improvements and provides up-to-date training on regulations and agency policies.
Minimum QualificationsEducation/
Experience:
Equivalent combination of 1 year of education and experience after completion of high school.
License/Certification: Must pass a comprehensive background check. Valid driver’s license. As a condition of and prior to hire, applicant must have verified their current New Hampshire driving record indicating no major traffic violations.

Education and experience in law enforcement work as a certified police officer or accepted certification by Police Standards and Training Council, or as a security officer, a correctional officer, active military or veteran with honorable discharge, or combination of positions.
After-Hire RequirementsMust possess proof of completion of or successfully complete the State’s Safe Driving Program within the first six (6) months of employment.
