Position OverviewWe are seeking a Building Cleaning Worker I-II to perform custodial duties across multiple buildings and facilities for the State of New Hampshire Veterans Home.
BCW I:
Independent cleaning of multiple units.
BCW II
:
Lead or shift point person, independently managing cleaning tasks for one or more facilities.
- Execute cleaning, custodial or janitorial duties for multiple buildings or facilities.
- May be assigned to multiple units, areas, locations, or districts.
- As BCW II, serve as a team or crew lead or shift point person.
- Provide a full range of cleaning, custodial or janitorial duties associated with care, maintenance, and cleanliness.
- BCW I: 8th‑grade education. No license or certification required.
- BCW II: High school diploma or equivalent. No license or certification required.
- Knowledge of cleaning services in large complexes, health facilities, or buildings.
- Knowledge of customer and personal service principles.
- Knowledge of quality standards for health, environment and safety.
- Ability to read, write, and prepare written and oral reports.
- Strong listening and understanding skills.
- Ability to arrange tasks in a specific pattern or rule.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to identify when something is wrong or may go wrong.
- Appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities.

Promotion criteria include: minimum of six months full‑time or one year part‑time service as BCW I, satisfactory performance evaluation, approval by agency management, recommendation from immediate supervisor.
