GOSECO International Executive Search®  has been retained to identify an exceptional   Head of Tax - Mexico   for a leading multinational manufacturing organization with major operations in Mexico. This is a high-impact, first-of-its-kind tax leadership role designed for a seasoned expert ready to build, optimize, and elevate the tax function across multiple sites. The position offers significant strategic exposure, regional influence, and direct collaboration with global leadership.
COMPANY OVERVIEW
Our client is a global industry-leading company with operations across the US, Mexico, Europe, and Asia. The company provides contract manufacturing services to electronics makers. Customers include manufacturers of computers, industrial control equipment, medical devices, telecommunications systems, and test and measurement instruments. The company also offers design, direct order fulfillment, distribution, engineering, materials management, and testing services.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Head of Tax  will serve as the lead tax authority in Mexico, responsible for all aspects of corporate tax compliance, VAT oversight, maquiladora/IMMEX regulations, tax provision, audits, and strategic planning. As the organization’s first dedicated Mexico tax leader, this role provides a unique opportunity to build a best-in-class tax structure, strengthen internal controls, drive process improvements, and influence cross-border decisions.
The role requires executive maturity, hands-on leadership, and the ability to partner with both regional finance teams and global tax executives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual Mexico tax filings:
Corporate Income Tax (CIT), VAT, and withholding taxes.
Ensure full compliance with IMMEX/maquiladora tax frameworks, advising leadership on risks, opportunities, and regulatory requirements.
Oversee VAT compliance, manage exemptions, ensure proper documentation, and drive the timely recovery of refunds.
Own the preparation and review of tax provisions, deferred taxes, and disclosures under MX GAAP and US GAAP.
Establish and enhance internal controls, policies, and audit-ready documentation.
Support and coordinate global transfer pricing documentation and intercompany arrangements.
Provide tax data and analytical support for global reporting and U.S. tax submissions.
Lead and manage tax audits and disputes with local authorities.
Provide strategic guidance on upcoming tax reforms affecting Mexico and LATAM.
Drive digital transformation and process automation within tax and finance.
Partner closely with plant controllers, regional finance, shared services, and global tax leadership teams.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Taxation is required.
Professional certifications such as CPA, CPC, or equivalent are preferred.
Bi-lingual Spanish/English is required
10–15 years of progressive tax experience in multinational or Big 4 environments.
Deep expertise in VAT, maquiladora/IMMEX programs, and corporate tax compliance.
Proven success managing complex tax audits and resolving disputes.
Strong experience with tax provisions, deferred taxes, and cross-border reporting.
Exposure to transfer pricing processes and intercompany frameworks.
Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with executive teams and global stakeholders.
Strategic mindset with strong analytical and project management capabilities.
