Compass Oncology, the Pacific Northwest's largest private Cancer Care Clinic group, is looking for an exceptional Registered Nurses (RN) to support our Radiation Oncology care team at our West Cancer Center. Oncology experience is a plus. This individual must also possess strong multi-tasking abilities, and bring positivity and passion to their work. Employment Type: Per Diem/ On-Call; up-to 20 hours per week; 2-3 days per week. (Monday-Friday; 8 hour shifts)
Location: West Cancer Center (Tigard, OR)
Salary: $41.17 - $69.36 per hour
Final offer amounts are determined by a review of the candidate's applicable experience and qualifications, as well as, internal employee equity considerations.
Scope:
Under general supervision, provides professional nursing care for patients adhering to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations. Demonstrates knowledge of physiological, psychological, and developmental and age specific differences in the patient population including late adolescence, adulthood, middle age, and the elderly. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to provide for assessment and therapeutic management of patient/family needs. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
Clinical Assessment & Care Delivery
- Conducts comprehensive health assessments by interviewing patients about their current status and medical history.
- Collects, documents, and communicates nursing assessments and interventions.
- Reviews and reports health status findings including physical exams, labs, imaging, and psychosocial assessments to the provider.
- Prepares and administers therapies as directed by a physician, including medications and blood products, ensuring proper dosage, route, timing, and technique.
- Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports, and manages central line catheters.
- Monitors and modifies treatment doses based on lab results, treatment plans, protocols, and provider guidance.
- Maintains accurate, timely documentation of all patient care activities.
- Assesses patient and family needs, providing education and relevant instructional materials.
- Offers psychosocial support to patients and families, and assists in identifying community resources.
- Triages patient phone calls and documents key information in the medical record.
- Schedules and coordinates consultations, diagnostic tests, procedures, and follow-up appointments.
- Facilitates communication between patients, families, providers, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Manages medication refill requests and communicates with pharmacies as needed.
- Ensures appropriate pre-authorizations and consent forms are obtained prior to therapy administration.
- Applies knowledge of billing practices, reimbursement procedures, and charge capture.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and well-stocked work environment; adheres to infection control and OSHA guidelines.
- Maintains and calibrates equipment according to quality control standards.
- Follows disinfection protocols and handles hazardous materials appropriately.
- Collaborates with clinical research staff and supports study protocols as needed.
- Acts as a clinical resource for LPNs, LVNs, and Medical Assistants.
- Provides nursing coverage for satellite offices as needed.
- Serves as a mentor or preceptor to less experienced nurses.
- Participates in ongoing professional development and continuing education specific to oncology nursing.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
- Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.
- Dual licensure in Oregon (OR) and Washington (WA) must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
- Chemotherapy Immunotherapy provider card, preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current CPR certification required.
Must maintain continuing education requirements.
Experience/Training- Minimum (1-3 years) of nursing experience including at least (1) year in oncology preferred.
