Compass Oncology - the largest privately‑owned Cancer Care and Research Facility in the Pacific Northwest - is seeking a Patient Care Coordinator to join our high‑impact team. This role requires someone who is adaptable, multi‑faced, and willing to jump in wherever needed, even beyond their usual scope of responsibilities. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise as well as internal employee equity considerations.

Job Scope
:
Under general supervision, serves as a Care Coordinator in scheduling a variety of patient appointments; office visits, lab appointments, chemotherapy appointments, and tests as indicated by the Provider. May include outside scheduling and the coordination of outside referrals. Serves as a resource and liaison between patient and other medical staff. Answers incoming calls, triages calls appropriately to the correct department/healthcare provider.

Accuracy, efficiency, and excellent time management is crucial as a Patient Care Coordinator. Familiar with standard medical concepts and medical office practices. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrates an understanding of patient confidentiality to protect the patient and clinic/practice.
  • Accurately and efficiently schedules patient medical appointments to include office visit, lab, chemotherapy, and other associated ancillary appointments as ordered by Provider in computer system.
  • Assist patient in coordinating external referrals as ordered by the provider.
  • Obtains and maintains accurate patient demographics and insurance information and communicates changes appropriately.
  • Researches and responds to routine and non‑routine patient inquiries in a timely and professional manner. Requests assistance from more seasoned coworkers & supervisor on complex issues in order to discuss resolution & learn.
  • Answers all incoming calls, assesses callers' needs, directs to appropriate personnel. Pages clinic personnel as appropriate. Obtains and communicates messages in an accurate and timely manner using patient portal.
  • Develop and maintain positive and collaborative working relationships across all departments and staff.
  • Attend weekly team huddles led by Provider to discuss patient cases and work collaboratively to ensure quality care is provided.
  • Actively participates in departmental and inter‑departmental staff meetings, work groups or other collaborative efforts as needed.
  • Act as a resource for all clinic staff to include training, shadowing, and onboarding.
  • Demonstrates reliability and punctuality by consistently showing up on time and maintaining dependable attendance to support team operations and organizational goals.
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • High School diploma or equivalent required. College degree preferred.
  • At least two (2) years office experience, preferably in a medical setting.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology highly desired.
  • Must possess the ability to apply critical thinking in reading, interpreting, and executing provider orders.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to assess when it is appropriate to adjust priorities based on patient or clinic needs.
