A full‑time Agriculture Technician is needed to provide essential technical and operational support for field‑based research activities. This position is responsible for planting, crop maintenance, treatment applications, harvest coordination, and post‑harvest evaluations to ensure research protocols are implemented accurately and on schedule. Duties include collecting and entering research data, planning and scheduling activities to meet project timelines, and coordinating plantings, treatment applications, and harvests with off‑site growers and Extension collaborators.
The position also supports student research projects by providing consistent technical assistance and field oversight. In addition, the Agriculture Technician will maintain experimental plots at the Alapaha Farm, including pruning and training blackberry plantings, and will be responsible for safe and compliant pesticide applications. The position will ensure proper operation and maintenance of research vehicles and equipment and manage ordering of supplies necessary for field operations.
This role is critical to maintaining research continuity, data quality, regulatory compliance, and the overall efficiency of research and Extension programs.
This is a soft funded position with continued employment based on the needs of the projects as well as available funding and satisfactory job performance and progress.
