We are seeking a Geological Technician to fulfill the role of General Core Technician

The Geological Technician will be responsible for completing open pit production duties including ore, waste rock sampling, grade control sampling, stockpile sampling, pulp sorting, sample dispatch, and data entry in timely and accurate manner.

The individual will be working within a team dynamic as well as individually to ensure proper sampling procedures are followed. This position calls for the ability to stand on your feet for long periods of time, be able to follow number sequences and to wear a proper fit-tested respirator. Previous experience in an industrial environment would be an asset, although not mandatory.

The proven commitment to workplace safety is a mandatory mindset for this position.

• Complete sample collection for RC drill rigs, chip traying
• Performing field logistics duties in a productive and efficient manner
• Basic earthworks, coordinating with contractors
• Carrying out work as directed by the project manager
• Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe work environment
• Packaging and delivery of samples

• Able to physically meet the requirement for the position including: standing for long time periods, heavy lifting and repetitive tasks (crouching, bending, kneeling and lifting)
• Safety-conscious mentality and the ability to stay focused and attentive
• Ability to work on a remote site and on a rotation-based schedule
• Self-motivated, able to complete tasks with minimal supervision
• Previous work experience in mineral exploration and/or production geology is an asset but not mandatory
• Manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Takes initiative and works independently.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
• Strong problem identification, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Willing to adapt and work in an inclusive work environment.

• Valid G driver’s license or equivalent
• Surface Miner Common Core training, or the ability to obtain it.
• Working at Heights training, or the ability to obtain it.
• Previous work experience in mineral exploration and/or production geology is an asset but not mandatory

Full-time hours at competitive wages (based on qualifications and experience). Bayside offers $27.50 to $33.00 an hour.
