Hatch is seeking a motivated recently graduated Civil Designer / Field Inspector candidate to join the Highways & Bridges group in our Thunder Bay, ON location.

We are looking for adaptable, self‑motivated students who are excellent at working both individually and in a team. We need you to build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and clients through excellent verbal and written communication. We expect you to draw on your university and employment experiences to manage your time effectively.

You Bring To

The Role
  • Civil Engineering diploma (Technology or Technician program) from a recognized college in Canada and a graduation within the last two years.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Inspection experience in construction of highway or bridge projects is a definite asset.
  • Familiarity with CAD/design software such as MathCAD, Excel, Micro Station, InRoads, Open Roads, EPA SWMM, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D will be considered an asset.
  • Strong academic performance, communication, interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, innovation, self‑motivation, quick delivery, teamwork, and a high regard for safety and quality work.
  • Analytical problem solving with excellent computer skills.
  • Direct application and development of knowledge in design of linear infrastructure for both planning studies and detailed engineering phases for multidisciplinary projects.
  • Work closely with experienced designers and engineers who will provide guidance and mentoring.

Compensation

Range: $58,000 – $61,000

At Hatch, we are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. In accordance with legislated pay transparency requirements, the expected salary range for this position is based on current market data and aligned with internal pay structures to ensure consistency and fairness.
