SummaryIn this critical role you will help the Precision Medicine organization increase its impact for patients by setting the PMed publication strategy and helping execute on those publications. This role will be a part of the PMed Portfolio Management Strategy & Operations team and work directly with the Precision Medicine Leads and PMed Therapeutics Area (TA) Heads to define the PMed publication strategy for programs and TA.
The position is essential in driving the success of the Precision Medicine organization by helping track publications that are utilizing data generated by PMed and identifying data within the organization that has yet to be planned for publication. This individual will be communicating with our cross‑functional stakeholders to align on publication concepts, managing writing projects requested by our senior leaders, and identifying new opportunities for PMed to drive better outcomes for our patients.
The ideal candidate will have a strong science background, previous scientific publication writing experience, excellent stakeholder management skills, and experience in strategy development.
- Strategic Publication Leadership:
Drive the planning, development, and execution of precision medicine (PMed) and biomarker‑focused publication strategies, ensuring alignment with asset publication plans, internal author guidance (IAG), and Publications SOPs. - End‑to‑End Publication Development:
Oversee the end‑to‑end development of high‑impact publications across multiple therapeutic areas including content collection and curation, manuscript writing, literature review for appropriate citations, authorship determination, publication submission and responding to reviewer feedback while ensuring scientific rigor, compliance with ICMJE, and timely delivery for both journals and conferences. - Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Governance:
Partner closely with Computational Biology, Clinical Development, Scientific Communications, PMed Strategy & Operations, PMed Leads, Global Product Publication Team (GPPT), and Global Product Publication Lead (GPPL) stakeholders to coordinate PMed publication activities, including authorship adjudication, review processes, and escalation pathways. - Operational Execution & Process Improvement:
Lead quarterly PMed publication reviews for each TA, track PMed Publication metrics, and drive continuous improvement in operational frameworks, training, and stakeholder engagement for PMed publication processes. - Technology & AI:
Identify and internalize AI capabilities to make publication writing in PMed efficient and scalable. - Mentoring and Leadership:
Provide mentorship and training to internal teams on PMed publication practices.
- PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology or related scientific field and 2 years of scientific publication writing experience. OR master’s degree and 4 years of scientific publication writing experience. OR Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of scientific publication writing experience.
- PhD, Pharm
D, or MD with 4 years of work experience writing scientific communications in the biopharmaceutical industry with 1 or more years of that experience in R&D with good knowledge of clinical development or biomarker assay development. - Background in Clinical Research, Biology, Oncology, Cardiovascular Disease, Inflammation, or related field.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven experience in running meetings, coordinating with cross‑functional teams, and driving process improvements.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of digital literacy with a variety of tools (e.g. Smartsheet, Miro, MS Copilot, ChatGPT Enterprise, SharePoint) with a willingness to learn and adapt to new tools.
