Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesIn this role you will provide administrative and patient care support to assigned Medical Procedure Unit/Ambulatory Surgery Center in the Ambulatory and Community Practice. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provide general and administrative support to the staff, physicians, nurses and patients in the assigned surgery center and/or procedural site.
- Complete demographics, referral forms, on-line transactions including appointment and procedure scheduling using Electronic Encounter Registration System.
- Create physician soft chart when necessary, explain billing procedures, insurance requirements, and collect patient payments. Balance and deposit petty cash and checks, provide receipts to main cashier.
- Provide backup administrative support, triage calls, Xerox, scan and upload records to EMR, sort and distribute mail/incoming faxes.
- Process tasks in EMR pool /Patient Work queue on a daily basis as well as other patient requests as related to patient care.
- Serve as a liaison between patients, physicians, nursing units and other UCLA departments.
You will be asked to travel and work at other procedural sites throughout the community as assigned by the supervisor for coverage.
Job QualificationsRequired:
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with physicians and staff in a high volume setting.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize assignments
- Skill in efficiently and accurately facilitating the appointment making process, including transportation arrangements and maintain sub-specialty physician schedules
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to coordinate multiple appointments with staff from many clinical services at the UCLA Medical Center
- Knowledge of medical terminology
Preferred:
- Skill in using a PC with associated programs including Word, Excel, and Email
- Skill in demonstrating work experience with a database computer program
- Knowledge of major medical insurance plans and types of coverage provided
- Strong understanding of GI terminology, experience coordinating GI procedures and ability to deliver accurate patient preparation instructions.
