Senior Supplier Quality Engineer – Columbus Technologies and Services

U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card holder) required.

Compensation: $102,708 – $145,530 annually plus bonus and benefits. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is based on work location, experience, and education.

Seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Supplier Quality Engineer to join our dynamic team. You will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of products delivered by our suppliers, collaborating with cross‑functional teams, building strong relationships, and implementing effective quality control measures to maintain the highest standards. Responsibilities
  • Lead development and execution of a comprehensive supplier quality strategy aligned with company goals.
  • Build strong partnerships with key suppliers and serve as the primary point of contact for escalated quality matters.
  • Conduct thorough assessments and audits of supplier capabilities, quality systems, and processes.
  • Drive advanced root‑cause analysis and develop robust corrective/preventive action plans for complex issues.
  • Oversee qualification of new suppliers, evaluating technical capabilities and quality expectations.
  • Establish and manage supplier quality metrics, using data analysis to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Operations, and Procurement to align quality requirements.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members.
  • Innovate and develop advanced methodologies, tools, and approaches for optimizing supplier quality processes.
  • Lead complex supplier transitions, ensuring smooth handovers and minimal disruptions.
  • Conduct in‑depth quality and process audits at supplier sites and approve Supplier Quality plans.
  • Participate in product realization activities such as drawing reviews and readiness assessments.
  • Lead and manage the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) at supplier locations.
  • Drive strategic initiatives for cost reduction, quality enhancement, and successful product introductions.
  • Apply advanced quality methodologies (SPC, Six Sigma, lean manufacturing) and interpret intricate engineering specifications.
  • Participate in high‑level Product Readiness Reviews and coordinate final inspections.
  • Demonstrate exceptional communication skills with internal and external stakeholders, including senior management.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality management, or related technical discipline.
  • At least 8 years of experience in quality engineering, supplier quality management, or supplier development in aerospace, defense, or high‑tech industries.
  • Strong understanding of quality management principles, supplier assessment methodologies, and quality control processes.
  • Experience conducting supplier audits and managing corrective action processes.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, and ITAR regulations.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally for supplier visits and audits (up to 70 %).
Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies
  • Experience in the aerospace or defense industry.
  • Master’s degree in engineering or quality management.
  • Familiarity with J‑STD‑001, IPC‑A‑600, IPC‑A‑610, IPC/WHMA‑A‑620.
  • Professional certifications such as CQE or CSQP desirable.
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks.
  • Track record of successful supplier development and engineering design change collaboration.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to work in an office or warehouse environment (constant).
  • Required to sit and stand for long periods; frequent use of hands, fingers, and computer equipment.
