Overview
Join the Adjunct Pool - Philosophy Department role at Inside Higher Edit. Inside Higher Edit encourages applicants who will contribute to the cultural diversity of the department. The role is a part‑time adjunct faculty position, teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in philosophy.
ResponsibilitiesUnder the direction of the Dean, Department Chair, or Program Director, the Adjunct Faculty Member is responsible for:
- Providing academic instruction to students through lecture, lab, or performance courses;
- Assessing and developing students’ cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher‑order thinking through assignments and activities;
- Advising students about studies and lifelong learning resources;
- Observing and evaluating student performance and providing timely feedback;
- Planning and organizing instruction to align with course outlines and university goals;
- Maintaining accurate records of enrollment, attendance, and academic progress;
- Selecting instructional materials in collaboration with discipline faculty;
- Performing related duties as assigned.
Minimum:
Master’s degree from a recognized institution or equivalent experience and professional recognition.

Physical AbilitiesManual dexterity to operate office equipment; speaking to exchange information and give presentations; sitting or standing for extended periods; pushing, pulling, or lifting light objects; bending and reaching to store or retrieve files.
Working EnvironmentIndoor classroom environment; subject to visiting a variety of classroom sites on campus.
Hiring Range$32.00-$34.50 an hour.
