Accounts Payable Specialist

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join our accounting team in Thornton, Colorado. This long-term contract position requires a highly motivated individual with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage high-volume tasks efficiently. The ideal candidate will focus on ensuring accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices while maintaining strong collaborative relationships with internal and external partners.

Responsibilities:

- Handle the full-cycle accounts payable process, including matching invoices to purchase orders and obtaining approvals for non-PO invoices.

- Utilize automated workflows to reconcile invoices to purchase orders efficiently.

- Process vendor payments and resolve any issues by coordinating with relevant stakeholders.

- Maintain vendor master records and set up new vendor accounts as needed.

- Respond to inquiries from vendors and internal teams with accuracy and professionalism.

- Review and process employee expense reports to ensure compliance with company policies.

- Reconcile vendor statements and investigate discrepancies to ensure accurate records.

- Apply appropriate Sales and Use Tax rates during invoice processing.

- Research and resolve disputes or inquiries from vendors and operations teams.

- Support internal and external audit processes by providing documentation and insights. Requirements - Proficiency in account coding and general accounting functions.

- Experience working with accounting software systems and ERP platforms.

- Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and procedures.

- Ability to manage high volumes of invoices with attention to detail and accuracy.

- Excellent communication skills for interacting with vendors and internal teams.

- Knowledge of Sales and Use Tax application in invoice processing.

- Prior experience reconciling vendor statements and resolving discrepancies.

- Familiarity with audit preparation and documentation.
