Job Title: Teaching Assistant (SEMH)
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Contract: Full-time/Temp
Location: Middlesbrough
Empowering Learning are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a full-time role working closely with children who may display behaviours that challenge, supporting them to access learning and develop positive relationships.
Key Responsibilities- Provide consistent, tailored support to children with SEMH needs
- Use trauma-informed practices to promote emotional regulation and positive behaviour
- Support learning both in and out of the classroom
- Manage and respond calmly to behaviours that challenge
- Build strong, trusting relationships with children, staff and parents/carers
- Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Support the child's social, emotional and academic development
- Experience working with children with SEMH needs
- A strong understanding of trauma-informed approaches
- High levels of resilience, patience and emotional intelligence
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Ability to work full time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm
- An Enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to purchase one
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. Teaching Assistant, SEND, or childcare-related)
- Experience working in a school or specialist setting
