Kingsley Plant Weave Flag Technician
Weave Production Manager
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Flag Technician repairs air jet weave machinery by diagnosing faults and using tools to correct mechanical failures. Identifies cloth and machine defects and get them corrected. The flag tech completes one light inspection on each assigned machine once per shift. The Flag Technician works on a rotating 8-hour shift.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Respond to machine quality and performance flags identified by weavers and/or plant supervision.
- Troubleshoot weave machine issues.
- Identify and get fabric and machine defects corrected.
- Perform preventive maintenance.
- Obtain/complete maintenance work orders.
- Perform all other duties deemed necessary as required.
JOB SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
- Able to successfully progress through Kingsley technician classroom and OJT training as expected.
- Able to correctly identify defects and machine issues, document, and make sure issues are addressed.
- Should be self‑directed to the point of working with little to no supervision.
SKILLS - REQUIRED
- Proficient in current senior operator position
- Must be proficient in relief weaving prior to starting classroom tech training
- Ability to read and write and follow directions
- Basic Math (add, subtract, multiply, and divide)
- Good communication skills
- Strong discipline
- Good organization skills

Standing: Ability to stand while working 90% of daySitting: Ability to sit down 5% of dayMoving: Must be able to move around a 316,000 sq. ft. weaving facility with concrete floors to get to supplies, equipment, and to perform elements of job. 80% of dayReaching/Lifting: Must be able to reach anywhere from 8" to 24" into a filling case to grasp filling packages weighing between 8 and 25 pounds and place package on creel stand. Lifting press rollers 100 lb (with assistance). Lifting 30 lb take up motors & 40 lb let off motors as needed for repairs. 60% of dayClimbing: Must be able to step up and down off weaving platform which are 10" and 5" off the ground to inspect machines and start them. 40% of dayPush/Pull/Reach: Reach 12" up to 48" to grasp a warp yarn end. Guide reed hook through heddle and reed, then pull warp yarn end through. 10% of dayBending: Must be able to bend and stoop to effect repairs to weaving machines. Must be able to stoop at Staubli head panel to repair. Must be able to go on hands and knees to change out cables and valves. 30% of dayWalking: Ability to walk through out the plant on concrete surface. 70% of dayDexterity: Ability to tie knots and draw ends in fine denier yarns to target times. 30% of dayVisual Acuity: Ability to identify both warp and filling defects in fabric on the machine and in swatches. To see fine denier yarn to draw ends correctly through correct heddles and drop wires. To read and understand draw graphs, computer screen or any written instructions. 40% of dayWork Environment: Ability to work in cotton dust environment. Meet cotton pulmonary function requirements.
