Manager of Child Wellness

Salary: $66,000 per year

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Manager of Child Wellness is responsible for the strategic oversight, coordination, and implementation of comprehensive child wellness services, including mental health, disabilities, nutrition, and physical health, across ECS4

Kids Georgia programs. This role ensures compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, CACFP, and DOH regulations, and ECS4

Kids policies, while supervising the Child Wellness Specialists and Health & Nutrition Coordinator to promote the well‑being and school readiness of all children.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Leadership & Supervision
  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, and performance management for the Child Wellness Specialists and Health & Nutrition Coordinator.
  • Facilitate regular team meetings to ensure alignment, collaboration, and continuous improvement across wellness services.
  • Support professional development and training opportunities for wellness staff.
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation, reporting, and compliance across all wellness domains.
Program Oversight & Compliance
  • Oversee the implementation of disabilities, mental health, nutrition and health services in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards, CACFP, and state/local regulations.
  • Monitor service delivery and ensure timely screenings, referrals, and follow‑up for children with identified needs.
  • Review and approve wellness-related policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Ensure data integrity and reporting accuracy in Child Plus and other systems.
Collaboration & Integration
  • Collaborate with education, family services, and leadership teams to ensure integrated service delivery.
  • Serve as a liaison with community health, disabilities, mental health, and nutrition partners.
  • Support the development and implementation of individualized health care and nutrition plans for children with food allergies, special dietary needs, or medical conditions.
  • Collaborate with food service vendors and kitchen staff to ensure meals meet USDA guidelines and accommodate dietary restrictions.
  • Participate in case management meetings and interdisciplinary planning for children with complex needs.
  • Represent the wellness team in internal and external meetings, including Health Services Advisory Committee (HSAC).
Strategic Planning & Quality Improvement
  • Analyze wellness data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead the development and implementation of wellness initiatives and goals aligned with the agency’s strategic plan.
  • Support grant writing, reporting, and compliance monitoring related to wellness services.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field with 3 years of experience in early childhood, health, or behavioral services, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
  • Strong understanding of child development, trauma‑informed care, and family‑centered practices.
  • Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards, CACFP, and health/safety regulations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead cross‑functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data systems (e.g., Child Plus).
CERTIFICATIONS
  • Complete TB screening & physical before having direct contact with children. Renew every 2 years.
  • Must have current First Aid and Pediatric Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training.
  • 15 hours of annual training in topics related to child development, health and safety, and program operations.
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of automobile coverage.
  • Satisfactory Driving Record (as outlined in Vehicle Driving Policy).
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
  • Works in office, classroom, and community settings.
  • Local travel to multiple sites required.
  • Occasional evening or out‑of‑town work may be required.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, and move throughout the day.
  • Manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
