Attention Alaska Residents!The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, Northern Region Highways and Aviation is looking for Equipment Operators Journey 1/2 to help us Keep Alaska Moving!
What You Will Be Doing- Operate and maintain heavy equipment for year‑round maintenance tasks, including snow removal, hauling, drainage, and infrastructure repairs; perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections, fluid checks, cleaning, and minor maintenance.
- Maintain and repair transportation assets such as roads, bridges, drainage structures, signage, guardrail, and landscaping; tasks may include painting, sandblasting, and concrete work, with potential summer travel.
- Perform winter operations using plows, sanders, graders, and other equipment for snow and ice control, abrasive application, snow hauling, and response to road hazards, flooding, debris, and other emergencies.
- Ensure work zone safety by setting up traffic control with arrow boards, flagging, and other methods during both winter and summer maintenance activities; respond to and clear material spills or obstructions.
- Participate in training and development, including Traffic Control, First Aid/CPR, OSHA, and heavy equipment operation for snow and ice control; prepare for the WG 53 test and perform additional assigned duties, including shop support.

This is a full‑time position located in Thompson Pass, Alaska, within the Valdez District. Expect a dynamic, fast‑paced environment with varied responsibilities and conditions.
