Speech Language Pathologist (SLP), 24 Hours – Day Shift (FLOAT)

Day Kimball Health is hiring for a part‑time Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our Home Care Speech Therapy department.

Department: Home Care / Inpatient (FLOAT)

Location: Thompson, CT & Putnam, CT

Schedule: Day shift (8:00 a.m.

- 4:30 p.m.)

Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Rehabilitation Supervisor in Home Care and the Director for In‑Patient Rehabilitation Services, you will be a vital member of a dynamic team responsible for organizing and administering prescribed speech therapy programs to reduce and/or prevent disability, helping patients achieve their maximum functional potential.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and treat patients as prescribed by referring physician.
  • Record treatment response, progress, and discharge information in patient’s chart.
  • Educate patient, family, and significant others on condition, treatment, home program, and rehabilitation services.
  • Confere routinely with physician and other practitioners in person, by phone, or in writing regarding progress, regression, or change of plan.
  • Orient, instruct, and direct other health care team members as needed.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Master’s degree from an accredited program in Speech Language Pathology.
  • Current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech‑Language Pathology.
  • Connecticut license or eligibility for Connecticut license.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Minimum of one year experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Use common sense and specialized medical skills to care for patients with disabilities.
  • Understand technical information from supervisors, charts, reference books, manuals, and labels.
  • Work quickly and accurately in emergency situations.
  • Communicate effectively.
  • Identify and act on priorities for smooth departmental operation.
  • Maintain discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Keep up‑to‑date on trends and developments in the field of physical medicine and health services.
  • Work in team situations.
