The City of Thomaston is seeking dedicated individuals like you to serve as Part‑Time School Crossing Guards. With flexible hours and competitive compensation, this role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young students.

• Flexible
  
  Schedule:
  
  Work just two hours per day, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., leaving plenty of time for other commitments.
• Competitive Pay:
  Earn $25.00 per hour while helping to keep our children safe.

  Play a vital role in ensuring the safety of children as they navigate school traffic and crossings.

As a School Crossing Guard, you'll provide essential support for the safety of children crossing the street during school hours. Your duties will include directing traffic, regulating pedestrian flow, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols.

• Traffic Regulation:
  Safely regulate vehicle and pedestrian traffic at designated crossings to facilitate the safe passage of children.
• Event Support:
  Provide traffic control support at special events and non‑school locations as assigned.
• Reporting:
  Report motorists who fail to adhere to safe driving practices in school crossing zones.
• Other Duties:
  Assist with any other assigned tasks related to pedestrian and traffic control.

• Basic Skills:
  
  Possess the ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Driver's License:
  Hold a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia, with a motor vehicle record insurable under the city’s insurance plan.

• Traffic Knowledge:
  Understanding of traffic control principles and pedestrian safety practices.

  Ability to effectively communicate with students, parents, and school personnel.
• Physical Requirements:
  
  Capability to stand for extended periods, with the flexibility to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
