SEMH Teaching Assistant

Location: Thirsk
Salary: £88 – £110 per day
Contract: Full-Time
Start Date: January 2026

GSL Education are looking for an experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist setting near Thirsk. This role involves supporting pupils with emotional and behavioural needs in a structured and supportive environment.

The provision supports pupils who have struggled in mainstream education due to SEMH needs. Small groups, therapeutic strategies and strong adult relationships are central to the school’s approach.

• Support pupils with SEMH needs 1:1 and in groups
• Assist with behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
• Encourage engagement and positive routines
• Support learning across a broad curriculum

• Experience supporting SEMH needs, resilience, strong behaviour support skills and an enhanced DBS.
• Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including an enhanced DBS on the update service.
