* Position Overview:

** Apply theoretical and practical knowledge to state-of-the-art process control and industrial automation systems with an electrical emphasis. Provide informed guidance for greenfield installations and brownfield system modifications. This consists of answering technical questions, writing online technical content, or more that requires general technical competence.#
** Responsibilities:
*** Perform all Associate Applications Engineer / Assistant Applications Engineer tasks and responsibilities at ‘mastery’ level; demonstrating expertise in product management topics. The work itself may not change, but the level of management oversight decreases.
* Demonstrate technical prowess in electrical engineering as measured by the ability to answer industrial-specific technical questions of the following nature: part number ambiguities, associated tool compatibility, general suitability for use questions up to the system level, suppliers we carry, part categorisation, cross references, website navigation, and more from all sources, mediums, and tools
* Effectively interact with people, including management, to cultivate goodwill from peers, customers, and suppliers
* Accept responsibility to author technical content describing electromechanical devices, their associated parts, and demonstrate how they are used to proactively answer customer inquiries and drive engagement
* Understand area KPIs|OKRs be able to align actions|recommendations to those metrics (within your scope of responsibility)
* Actively identify opportunities for continued learning (e.g. skills, knowledge, etc.); regularly create and take advantage of learning opportunities
* Generate original online technical content, including articles, blogs, wire diagrams, etc.
* Leverage understanding of electrical engineering concepts, product knowledge and direct customer interactions to assist other Digi Key departments in improving the customer digital experience and executing strategic growth initiatives
* Specializing in a technology, a supplier, or a department function
* Offering solutions to customers without help from others
* Reporting progress against goals
* May assist in the review of potential new and existing supplier contracts
* Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to possible reallocation of efforts to other organizations per business need and management request.
* May take on additional responsibilities fromthe Principal Applications Engineer or the Applications Engineering leadership
** Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
*** Bachelor's in Engineering
* Strong understanding of the industrial process control and automation industry
* Demonstrate experience in hands-on troubleshooting skills in the industrial process control and automation industry
* Experienced with IEC 61131 programmable logic controller languages (Siemens TIA portal preferred)
* Works well in cross-functional teams
* Able to work independently or collaboratively and maintain a positive attitude

Preferred Qualifications:

* Exposure to greenfield installations and brownfield system modifications
* Exposure to the Digi Key brand in the electronics distribution industry
* Advanced degree in engineering#
