About the Job

Responsibilities
  • Bridge Maintenance:
    Perform bridge flushing, concrete repair, deck crack sealing, joint replacement/repair, spot painting, traffic control, flagging, and stand for extended periods. Transport equipment or materials safely to and from project sites.
  • Construction Assistance:
    Assist road construction inspectors with materials testing, documentation, and basic tasks to verify work meets requirements. Provide support to the construction survey crew as needed.
  • Bridge position will run approximately April 22 – October 20 2026 (regular hours 6:30 am – 5:00 pm, Monday–Thursday). Construction position will run approximately June 3 – September 4 2026 (regular hours 7:00 am – 3:30 pm, Monday–Friday; overtime expected).
Minimum Qualifications
  • Written and oral communication skills sufficient to keep records, read and interpret directions, and convey information to employees and the general public.
  • Working knowledge of English sufficient to read, write, speak, and understand oral and written information.
  • Valid Class D driver’s license at time of application.
  • Ability to perform manual labor: bending, lifting, digging, reaching, and loading heavy materials.
  • Comfortable performing indoor and outdoor tasks in heat, cold, rain, and wind.
Physical Requirements

Typical tasks involve lifting up to 100 pounds, frequent moving and lifting or transferring objects such as 50‑pound bags, walking or standing on rough terrain, and performing strenuous physical labor including digging, shoveling, hauling, crawling, bending, pushing, pulling, and climbing. Bridge work may require climbing slopes, using ladders and scaffolds at considerable heights, and frequent exposure to weather elements year‑round. Must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment.
