Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages our customers to return. Assist the department manager in achieving sales and profit goals, monitor and control all quality assurance standards, and work closely with the Deli/Baker Merchandising team and the Deli/Bakery department to create an engaging environment. • Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions and make suggestions about products.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
• Inform customers of Cheese Shop specials.
• Provide customers with ordered products in the correct portion size to prevent shrink.
• Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes using appropriate utensils and equipment.
• Prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise.
• Check product quality for freshness, review "sell by" dates, and take appropriate actions.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Understand the store's layout and locate products for customers.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
• Maintain inventory and stocking conditions, noting discrepancies.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers, and keep temperature logs.
• Reinforce safety programs, comply with safety procedures, and report unsafe conditions.
• Inspect equipment, notify management of repairs, and report safety risks or illegal activities.
• Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflicts reasonably and cooperatively.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek assistance when needed.
• Support and assist with customers including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction).
• Ability to handle stressful situations.

Desired Previous Job

Experience:

• High school education or equivalent.
• Comparable retail experience.
