Position: Safety Specialist - The Woodlands, TX

Overview

Safety is a core value and top priority at Centric Services. The Safety Specialist supports the Director of Safety & Training by leading field-focused safety, training, and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) efforts across operations.

The Safety Specialist is responsible for conducting field inspections, safety audits, and QA/QC reviews of work performed to verify compliance with company standards, procedures, and safe work practices. The Safety Specialist provides hands-on coaching and training to field employees, supports incident and accident investigations, and partners with operations leadership to drive continuous improvement. The primary objective of this position is to strengthen safety culture, improve work quality, and ensure consistent, safe execution of work so every employee returns home safely each day.

Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement and enforce company health and safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices in the field.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of safety and training programs and recommend improvements to reduce risk and improve performance.
  • Conduct field safety audits, inspections, and QA/QC reviews of work performed; document findings and verify corrective actions to completion.
  • Exercise sound judgment to address unsafe conditions or behaviors, including recommending coaching, training, or disciplinary action when appropriate.
  • Lead or support incident and accident investigations, identify root causes, and assist with corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain on-call availability as needed to support emergency response and critical incidents.
  • Prepare and submit inspection, incident, and administrative reports accurately and within established timelines.
  • Assist in the development, delivery, and reinforcement of formal and informal safety and training programs.
  • Track, trend, analyze, and report safety performance data; establish metrics and provide meaningful insights to management.
  • Support regulatory and compliance activities as required and assist with site assessments and injury reduction initiatives.
  • Advise and support Operations leadership in the effective execution of safety and training programs and initiatives.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by reinforcing safety policies, best practices, and accountability in daily operations.
  • Coordinate outside services and vendors as needed.
  • Recommend process improvements related to safety, training, quality, and compliance.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and facilitate training sessions, meetings, audits, and related safety activities as needed.
  • Operate a company-issued vehicle and perform extensive driving and fieldwork.
  • Out of Town travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Able to work primarily in the field while performing assigned duties.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of four (2) years of related experience
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Working knowledge of natural gas infrastructure and field operations
  • Experience in a field-based operations environment
Certifications and Licenses

These certifications are not required at the time of hire; however, they must be obtained while serving in this role.

  • TEEX (OSHA) coursework
  • PE Fusion Certification
  • OQ Master Evaluator Certification
  • First Aid and CPR Certification
  • Forklift Operator Certification
  • Smith Driving Trainer Certification
  • Competent Person Certification
  • OSHA 10 or 30
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to climb ladders and walk long distances on job sites
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry objects up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to perform physical activities, including grasping, reaching, stooping, crouching, and bending
