Overview
The Bachrach Group is partnered with a prominent, national real-estate firm on their search for a PROPERTY ACCOUNTANT
. This role is responsible for managing and executing the full cycle of accounting activities for an assigned portfolio of properties, including management of bank accounts and petty cash, overseeing accounts payable and receivable, maintaining creditor and debtor records, preparing statutory filings, issuing invoices, completing account reconciliations, and producing monthly financial reports. Success in this role requires strong technical accounting expertise, analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and effective time management skills.
The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of property accounting experience and a bachelor s degree in accounting or finance.
- Manage the month-end close processes while preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, financial analyses, and reviewing monthly financial statements for the assigned property portfolio.
- Complete quarterly financial variance analyses and ensure adherence to lender reporting requirements.
- Review and authorize accounts payable transactions for accuracy and compliance.
- Collaborate with external auditors and lenders during quarterly reviews and the annual audit process.
- Maintain consistent communication with the accounting team and property management staff.
- Prepare, review and post journal entries while maintaining the integrity of the general ledger.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
- Support the preparation and review of common area maintenance (CAM) and real estate tax reconciliations.
- Assist in the development and review of annual property operating budgets.
- Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- 4+ years of experience in property accounting.
- CPA license (or parts passed) is a major plus.
- Real estate background is highly preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks independently and under pressure
- Interface and collaborate with cross-functional teams and other departments while managing projects and meeting deadlines.
