About the Position:

Citizens First Bank is hiring a Mortgage Loan Officer for our Mortgage Production Department!

As a Mortgage Loan Officer at Citizens First Bank, you will meet with customers to collect and assess information, providing guidance to those applying for mortgage loans by carrying out the key duties and responsibilities associated with this position.

Key Responsibilities of the Mortgage Loan Officer:

  • Collects and analyzes information from loan applicants regarding income, assets and debts, while determining which product best suits the customer’s needs. Advises the customer of the advantages and disadvantages of the loan products selected based upon customer needs and analysis of their financial capacities.
  • Determines what program would best suit the applicant, after analytically determining that the applicant meets established standards for further consideration
  • Identifies and requests appropriate documentation such as income tax returns, bank and investments statements, purchase agreement, and income verification
  • Informs and educates applicant about specific closing costs such as appraisal, credit report, title policy and other settlement fees
  • Answers applicant's questions and obtains signature on application and disclosure forms
  • Submits completed application package and verifications to Mortgage Loan Processor for finalization and submission to underwriting
  • Calls, emails and/or responds to applicant or other persons to resolve discrepancies, such as differences in information provided and verifications received
  • Visits establishments such as sales offices and marketing representatives to maintain referral relationships and promote our mortgage services

Mortgage Loan Officer Requirements:

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, or finance or five years of Residential Mortgage Loan Officer experience with a clear understanding of Fannie Mae Guidelines and Desktop Underwriter.
  • Must be accurate, thorough and be able to completely assess our customer’s needs within the guidelines.
  • Works well under pressure and is able to stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have successfully obtained Safe Act certification through N.M.L.S. system (Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System) and obtained a Mortgage Loan Originator license. Every twelve months an individual is required by state law to take eight hours of continuing education and renew their license through the NMLS system.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, write routine reports and correspondence and to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume required.
