Overview
Physical Security Engineer (Data Centers) role s opportunity is available at any location in the United States. Ideally, candidates will be near a Jacobs U.S. office, but the company intends to hire the best candidates.
Base pay range: $/yr - $/yr

- Work on security projects within the Data Center market, collaborating with the security technology team.
- Lead security design efforts, create schematics, schedules, and plan drawings.
- Perform calculations for video storage, bandwidth usage, and power loads.
- Contribute to cross-discipline coordination; identify potential conflicts with architectural, civil, electrical, and instrumentation teams.
- Prepare drawings and specifications; support internal and external problem resolution.
- Coordinate with customers and vendors to ensure accessibility and timely project completion.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical/scientific discipline; master’s degree preferred. - Professional Engineering (PE) license is required.
- Professional security certifications (CISSP, CPP, PSP, etc.) are a plus.
- Experience:
12+ years of professional experience in planning, designing, and commissioning physical security systems and/or communication networks; project management experience is a plus. - Technical Expertise:
In-depth knowledge of physical security systems (video surveillance, access control, biometric systems, intrusion detection) and familiarity with leading manufacturers. - Experience with vulnerability and risk assessments and various assessment methodologies.
- Ability to evaluate emerging security technologies and analyze trade-offs (e.g., multi-megapixel vs. thermal imaging cameras; perimeter intrusion detection technologies).
- Strong understanding of network technologies and cybersecurity principles.
- Skills:
Exceptional problem-solving abilities; ability to work collaboratively; excellent verbal and written communication. - Tools & Software:
Proficiency with Bluebeam and design collaboration tools; experience with Revit, ACC, BIM
360, AutoCAD, and/or Micro Station; knowledge of CSI design and construction specifications; experience estimating and scheduling mid-to-large-scale project design efforts; knowledge of construction cost estimating for security implementation.
- Experience leading projects and managing resources; mentoring junior staff; design management; design experience in data centers (preferred).
