SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Specialty Care Medical Director is responsible for having direct oversight and leadership of the healthcare providers associated with the Specialty Care Centers, ensuring high standards of medical care. In conjunction with the Specialty Care Center Manager, the Medical Director assists in guiding the clinic's strategic direction, and advances TVHs Mission by developing clinical protocols, and works to improve the quality of patient care by enabling the healthcare providers to function in their roles as effectively and efficiently as possible.

The Specialty Care Medical Director is expected to lead by example and provide clinical leadership to the healthcare team, ensuring best practices in patient care and adherence to medical protocols. Developing and implementing strategies and metrics for collaborative care design with the Primary Care Medical Directors to ensure optimal, outcomes-based care delivery to patients across the practice. Monitor and analyze clinical performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
Facilitate regular clinician staff meetings to discuss operational issues, share updates, and promote teamwork. Conduct regularly scheduled one on one meetings with clinicians to review overall performance and discuss any concerns and/or new ideas/opportunities for performance or operational improvements. Conduct annual performance evaluations for all clinician staff within the care center. Continuously advance the value based mindset of the specialty group.
To facilitate collaboration between primary and specialty care to focus on value based medical care.
Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes, safety, and satisfaction.
Assist operations to develop and implement clinical policies and procedures in compliance with regulatory standards.
Provide direct patient care approximately 2 days per week.
Participate in budgeting, financial planning, and the management of clinical resources. Review with the Care Center Manager, at least monthly, the Care Center PCP P&L Dashboard.
Work collaboratively with local leadership in both Primary Care and Specialty Care, administrative staff, other department heads, and external partners to support the organizations mission, vision, and goals.
Ensure the clinic complies with all TVH policies, state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, and ethical guidelines. Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping practices are followed in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Represent the clinic in the community and promote its services through outreach and public relations efforts.
Education:
Encourage and support clinical research and ongoing education for medical staff.
Contribute to the development and implementation of the clinic's strategic plans, focusing on growth and improvement.
