Security Specialist

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a SECURITY SPECIALIST, T6008000 and is part of the Oregon National Guard 173rd Fighter Wing, National Guard.

As a SECURITY SPECIALIST, GS-0080-11, this position is located in Advanced Programs Office (APO), Special Access Program (SAP) Branch of an Air National Guard (ANG) Wing supporting fighter or bomber aircraft. The purpose of this position is to serve as a security specialist and security advisor, providing oversight and management of multiple security disciplines (information, personnel, industrial, physical, computer, operations and communications security) in support of special access programs (SAPs).

To provide specialized security policy and support for Special Access Programs to ensure the mission is not compromised; provide an effective security program to insure that information and material affecting national defense are protected from unauthorized disclosure, espionage and sabotage; ensuring granted individuals access to program information is clearly consistent with the interest of national security and defense.

• This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

• May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• The employee is required to maintain a Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility. This position is a designated national security position.
• May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; shift work and/or overtime may be required.
• This position has been identified as a designated position under the Air Force Drug Testing Plan. Incumbent(s) of this position is subject to the possibility of a random drug test.
• Employee may be required to take a random counter-intelligence polygraph and submit to background checks as a condition of employment and/or continued access to the SAP.
• The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
• This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration. This designation will not exceed 14 days per year unless approved in advance by the TAG.
