Fab, a Middleby Company, is seeking a professional skilled individual for a Sr. Mechanical Engineer position located at our Lewisville, TX location. This position designs, evaluates, and maintains Mechanical/Electromechanical beverage automation products and systems. This individual will be responsible for completing professional engineering assignments of moderately broad scope. Receives general direction, however, should be able to exercise discretion as to personal work details.
The individual is expected to support and lead assigned projects in a collaborative environment.
- Assumes responsibility of all engineering project work and coordinates sub-tasks with other functions.
- Guides junior engineers on best practices for product design and development
- Creates part & assembly designs using Solidworks.
- Creates assembly and sub-assembly drawings using Solidworks and releases to production.
- Takes responsibility of designs from concept to implementation. Supports multiple projects concurrently.
- Writes test plans and conducts tests in the Engineering lab.
- Participates in brainstorming discussions regarding new and existing products.
- Uses ECRs/ECNs to maintain change management across the product line.
- Creates and updates Bill of Materials (BOMs).
- Works seamlessly with cross-functional team to deliver on the important project goals.
- Participates in building and testing engineering prototypes.
- Prepares and presents engineering PowerPoint slides to both internal and external customers.
- Creates part specifications and works with supply chain and vendors to procure parts for engineering testing.
- Coordinates work with contractors and co‑ops/interns in support of the project milestones.
- Displays technical competency in one or more operational areas (e.g. automation, fluidics, materials, equipment design, and heat transfer).
- Conducts analysis for root cause & corrective action for issues related to product design and operation.
- 5-10 years of relevant work experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering from accredited university or college
- Highly proficient in MS Office and CAD (Solidworks required). Solidworks PDM knowledge is a plus. Knowledge of complex engineering analytical CAE tools (e.g. CFD, FEA)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Capable of using accepted formulas and manuals in making necessary computations to determine load capacities, strengths, etc.
- Ability to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) required, by company policy, for the job being performed.
- Up to 25% travel may be required.
