Fab, A Middleby Company, is seeking a professional skilled individual for Director of Mechanical Engineering position located at our Lewisville, TX location. This position designs, evaluates, and maintains Mechanical/Electromechanical beverage automation products and systems
- Provides guidance to a team of Mechanical and Electrical Engineers on best practices for product design and development.
- Assumes responsibility of all engineering project work in the department.
- Recruits and retains exceptional talent in the department.
- Manages team of mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, lab technicians and holds the team accountable for company milestones.
- Sets and communicates department goals effectively within the team and to the upper management.
- Inspires the team to tackle multiple projects with tight deadlines.
- Ensures project milestones are met in timely manner.
- Proficient in Solidworks 3D modeling and drawings.
- Reviews all engineering work for accuracy. Creates engineering processes and workflows to improve efficiency.
- Approves ECRs/ECNs to manage work within the department.
- Takes responsibility of designs from concept to implementation.
- Oversees Engineering lab and provides guidance to lab technicians.
- Performs mid-year and year-end reviews for all direct reports focused on individual growth for Engineers.
- Leads brainstorming discussions regarding new and existing products.
- Reviews and updates Bill of Materials (BOMs).
- Works seamlessly with cross-functional team to deliver on the important project goals.
- Prepares and presents engineering PowerPoint slides to both internal and external customers.
- Coordinates work with contractors and co-ops/interns in support of the project milestones.
- Displays technical competency in one or more operational areas (e.g. automation, fluidics, materials, equipment design, and heat transfer).
- Reviews and approves analysis for root cause & corrective action for issues related to product design and operation.
- Minimum 15 years of relevant work experience.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering from accredited university or college.
- Highly proficient in MS Office and CAD (Solid Works required). Solid Works PDM knowledge is required. Knowledge of complex engineering analytical CAE tools is preferred (e.g. CFD, FEA).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Up to 20% travel may be required.
