A highly regarded regional law firm is seeking an experienced Probate Administrator to join its growing and well-established Wills, Probate and Estate Planning team based primarily in Thatcham. The Role- Your responsibilities will include working closely with and supporting designated lawyers throughout the probate process.
- Providing day‑to‑day support to specified lawyers on probate matters.
- Preparing estate accounts and ensuring they are accurate and kept up to date.
- Monitoring assets, liabilities, administration expenses, and income, proactively following up where required.
- Maintaining well‑organised paper and digital files.
- Preparing routine correspondence relating to estate administration, tracking responses and chasing where necessary.
- Drafting inheritance tax accounts and probate applications for lawyer approval.
- Handling the closure, liquidation, or transfer of estate assets.
- Paying liabilities and administration expenses.
- Paying legacies and making distributions to beneficiaries.
- Preparing income tax returns, R185s, and routine correspondence with HMRC.
- Keeping lawyers regularly updated on progress and key developments.
