Junior Finace Assistant, Thatcham,Berkshire

We are looking for a motivated Junior Finance Assistant to join our finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone starting their career in finance—ideal for recent graduates, school-leavers, or individuals with limited experience who are keen to learn and develop professionally.

You will play a key role in supporting our finance team with day-to-day financial operations, helping ensure accuracy and efficiency across a range of tasks. With strong training, mentoring, and exposure to various areas of finance, this role offers a clear pathway for career development in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

* Process supplier invoices, expense claims, and purchase orders, including basic verification and coding

* Assist with payments (BACS, Faster Payments, cheques) under supervision

* Enter data into accounting software and maintain accurate financial records

* Help reconcile bank statements, petty cash, and simple supplier accounts

* Maintain and update spreadsheets for budgets, expenses, and financial tracking using Microsoft Excel

* Support month-end processes, including basic accruals, filing, and reconciliations

* Respond to basic supplier and internal queries regarding invoices and payments

* Support ad-hoc finance projects and tasks as needed

* Ensure compliance with company policies and basic UK financial regulations, including VAT awareness

Knowledge, Skills, Attributes &

Experience:

Essential:

* A-levels or equivalent (preferably including Maths or another numerate subject)

* Reliable, proactive, and eager to learn

* Motivated to build a career in finance and take on increasing responsibility over time

Desirable:

* Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field

* Basic understanding of accounting principles (from A-levels, college courses, or prior work experience)

* Good written and verbal communication skills
