The Good Rice Alliance (TGRA), promoted by Bayer, focuses on addressing water and methane-intensive cultivation methods in rice farming, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through sustainable agricultural practices. The Alliance seeks to minimize practices like continuous flooding in rice farming, which contributes significantly to methane emissions. TGRA promotes methods such as Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) and Direct Seeded Rice (DSR) to reduce water use and promote climate-smart agriculture.

Collaborating with technical partners, TGRA ensures scientific assessment of these practices, driving sustainable change and contributing to climate change mitigation. By implementing innovative solutions, TGRA supports the evolution of eco-friendly rice farming across the region.

Role Description

This is a fixed term contract , hybrid role located in Thane/ Hyderabad for a Strategic / Technical Support to Director – Carbon Initiative Lead, Bayer South Asia. The role requires providing strategic and technical support across Agriculture and Nature‑Based Solutions (NbS) initiatives. The role requires strong technical depth, excellent report drafting ability, and high‑quality presentation skills.

Responsibilities include technical analysis of agricultural systems, data interpretation, development of methodology‑driven reports, and preparation of clear, structured technical and management‑level presentations to support decision‑making.

Qualifications

- 6-10 years experience (flexible for strong profiles)
- Strong Analytical Skills with the ability to interpret scientific and agricultural data
- Educational background in agriculture, environmental science, or a related technical field is preferred
- Experience or exposure to Nature‑Based Solutions, carbon markets (MRV, baselines, carbon accounting), ESG, or climate / sustainability frameworks will be a strong advantage
- Should be highly analytical, detail‑oriented, and proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to independently manage complex deliverables and multiple work streams
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for liaising with stakeholders and technical partners
- Ability to work on-site / off-site in Hyderabad / Thane and contribute to climate-smart agricultural practices
