Summary
Shift: Day Shift
The Maintenance Mechanic supports daily shop operations by performing routine maintenance, basic mechanical repairs, facility upkeep, and equipment support. This role focuses on keeping production equipment, forklifts, and the facility in safe working condition. The position is hands‑on and ideal for someone with strong mechanical aptitude who can troubleshoot issues, perform general repairs, and respond quickly to shop needs. No formal certifications are required.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Perform basic mechanical maintenance and minor repairs on shop equipment and machinery.
- Refill and monitor propane or fuel levels for forklifts and ensure units are ready for daily operation.
- Conduct routine inspections of forklifts, equipment, and facility systems; report issues that require advanced repair.
- Perform general facility maintenance and repair, including:
- Minor plumbing, electrical, and lighting repairs
- Door, dock, and hardware repairs
- Basic carpentry, patching, and painting
- Assist with preventive maintenance tasks such as lubrication, filter changes, and equipment cleaning.
- Respond to maintenance requests from Production and prioritize work to minimize downtime.
- Support equipment setup, movement, and basic installation as needed.
- Maintain maintenance tools, supplies, and parts inventory; communicate reorder needs.
- Keep work areas organized, clean, and safe.
- Follow company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands‑on troubleshooting ability.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and basic shop equipment.
- Ability to perform a wide range of general repair and facility maintenance tasks.
- Self‑motivated with the ability to prioritize and work independently.
- Dependable, responsive, and service‑oriented with a strong safety mindset.
- Ability to work in an industrial environment and lift up to 50 lbs.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1–3 years of maintenance, mechanical, construction, automotive, farm, or industrial experience preferred.
- Certifications or training that are preferred, but not required:
- Forklift Operator Certification
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 (General Industry)
- Basic Electrical or Industrial Maintenance coursework or certificate
- Welding certification or basic welding training
- HVAC, plumbing, or mechanical trade coursework
