The Heavy Equipment Lube Tech is responsible for fueling, greasing, and performing routine service checks on heavy construction equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. This role supports mechanics and operators by maintaining proper fluid levels, performing preventative maintenance tasks, and identifying potential issues before they become major repairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Fuel, grease, and service heavy equipment daily in compliance with company standards.
- Inspect and maintain fluid levels (engine oil, coolant, hydraulic oil, transmission fluid, etc.).
- Perform routine inspections to identify leaks, loose parts, and visible wear.
- Operate lube/fuel truck safely and efficiently to service equipment across job sites.
- Track and log service records for all equipment maintained.
- Report any mechanical or safety issues to mechanics and supervisors immediately.
- Assist mechanics with minor repairs and preventive maintenance as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and company regulations.
- Keep equipment and fueling areas clean and organized.
Preventive Maintenance
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance services including oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication of moving parts.
- Inspect belts, hoses, batteries, and hydraulic systems for signs of wear.
- Maintain preventive maintenance logs and report all findings to the equipment manager.
- Coordinate with mechanics to schedule equipment downtime for preventive maintenance.
- Ensure preventive maintenance is completed on time with minimal equipment downtime.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in heavy equipment fueling, oiling, or related field.
- Valid CDL with hazmat/tanker endorsement preferred.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment lubrication requirements and service practices.
- Ability to operate service trucks and fueling equipment safely.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Physical ability to climb, lift, and work outdoors in all conditions.
