IC&E Technician – Entergy
Under general supervision, this role involves maintaining a good working knowledge of various power plant technical systems, and performing complex instrumentation, electrical, and mechanical work for inspection, troubleshooting, repair, installation, testing, adjustment, and calibration of equipment.
Job Duties / Responsibilities- Troubleshoot, identify, maintain, and repair power plant equipment; perform lockout/tagout following Fossil Tagging Procedure.
- Use mechanical measuring devices, instruments, controls, and regulating devices in power plants.
- Be familiar with principles of operation for steam boilers, turbo generators, pumps, heaters, steam traps, piping systems, pressure and level regulators, electrical distribution systems, and balance of plant systems.
- Comply with all Fossil Safety Procedures and Policies.
- Step‑up to Temporary Supervisor when required.
- Work overtime and be available overnight and on weekends for unscheduled repairs.
- Perform water chemistry analysis on the boiler makeup water system, adjust feed and blow‑down rates, and work with operations and vendors to monitor chemistry program.
- Install new control system equipment and use test equipment for electrical and control systems.
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent work experience.
- Preferred:
Associates Degree in I&C or Electrical or equivalent technical degree.
- Maintenance Operator III: 2‑3 years of experience.
- Maintenance Operator: 3 years’ experience.
- IC&E Technician: 5 years power plant experience or equivalent.
- Preferred:
Experience with distributed control systems.
- Diagnose and repair instrumentation and control system malfunctions (transmitters, gauges, switches, control valves, pneumatic actuators, PLCs, etc.).
- Install instrumentation tubing (bending, cutting, Swagelok fittings); troubleshoot fiber optic terminations and splicing.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, process and instrumentation diagrams, flow diagrams, and layout drawings.
- Diagnose and repair electrical systems (breakers, motor starters, motors, switch gear, MCCs).
- Read prints & schematics; troubleshoot and maintain plant electrical and I&C equipment.
- Install electrical systems with conduit bending, panel installation, and connection termination.
- Lift 100 lb and carry 50 lb; climb scaffolds, stairs, and ladders.
- Team oriented, self‑motivated, proactive, and possess a winning attitude.
- Basic computer knowledge for Entergy Fossil Applications Time and Labor and AIMM.
- Successful completion of EEI POSS/MASS test.
