Research Associate – Materials Science

Location: Prairie View

* Plan and conduct advanced research in chemical engineering and related areas.
* Perform experimental testing and analyze experimental and computational data.
* Prepare and characterize samples following established research protocols.
* Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot specialized laboratory equipment.
* Ensure compliance with technical specifications, safety standards, and research procedures.
* Develop, implement, and refine experimental methods and processes.
* Conduct technically complex investigations with a high degree of independence.
* Collaborate with interdisciplinary research teams and external partners.
* Assist in the preparation of research publications, technical reports, and grant proposals.
* Apply advanced disciplinary knowledge to support innovative research initiatives.
* Manage multiple research tasks and timelines effectively.
* Support evaluation of research progress and assist with mentoring or supervision of research personnel or students, as applicable.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
* Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
* Two years of related professional experience.
* Familiarity with specialized chemical engineering laboratory and/or technical equipment.
* Ability to effectively utilize a computer and applicable software to create databases, perform statistical analyses, present data and perform other computer related tasks.
* Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others.
* Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related engineering or physical science discipline.
* Demonstrated experience with laboratory research, experimental design, and data analysis.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and scholarly dissemination.
* Experience supporting externally funded research projects.
* Prior involvement in preparing journal articles or research proposals.
* Experience working in interdisciplinary research environments.
