A Typical Day
The Lab Coordinator is responsible for providing oversight and leadership to all laboratory services at their respective site.
Job Responsibilities- Responsible for assuring the proficiency, accuracy and precision of all lab analysis methods through instrument management and maintenance systems and strict adherence to SOP’s for sample analysis. Responsible for ensuring all documents are released, reviewed, and revised as needed, and gathers appropriate approvals prior to release for use
- Manage data collection and reporting of in-process and finished product variability, trends, and process capabilities, ensuring that Operations Teams are provided week-to-week and month-to-month quality performance results including; compliance to product specifications. Responsible for facilitating third party and customer audits (excluding regulatory) and ensures the timely execution and completion of subsequent corrective actions, without delay
- Responsible for coordinating and ensuring all third party samples are completed and shipped in a timely fashion
- Manage and order laboratory supplies
- Responsible for the internal lab standards and proficiency programs.
- Responsible for maintaining lab 3rd party certifications and conducting 3rd party lab audits
- Develop and mentor professional growth and the advancement of the lab staff.
- Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of related experience or equivalent experience
- 2 years of professional advancement through leadership positions of increasing responsibility
- Working knowledge of SQF (Safe Quality Foods) Code or other approved GFSI Standards
- Knowledge of production operations, laboratory, quality and food safety
- Working knowledge of SQF (Safe Quality Foods) Code or other approved GFSI Standards
- Ability to lift 45 lbs.
- Master’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Biological Sciences or related field
- Background in GFSI standards as related to lab certification. PCQI and SQF Practitioner Certified
- Technical knowledge of laboratory analysis, plant operations and quality management
- Knowledge of SAP
The role has periods of time when the work environment is sedentary and conducted in an office environment balanced with frequent occasions that require prolonged walking or standing, lifting/ carrying/handling moderate weight objects on a regular basis. Is required to wear PPE and have a regular presence in manufacturing and warehouse environments in both temperature controlled and uncontrolled locations. Must frequently interact with people verbally.
