Location: MARINE SCIENCE INSTITUTE (Port Aransas, Texas)

Purpose

This position will be responsible for the maintenance of grounds at all campuses of the UT Marine Science Institute in Port Aransas, Texas. The purpose of this position is to maintain and beautify the grounds at all MSI campus locations.

Responsibilities
  • Cleans, repairs, and maintains grounds equipment, mowers, line trimmers, blowers, chain saws, water pumps, etc.
  • Landscapes, weeds, planting and preparing the ground for flowerbeds, irrigating the grounds, and controlling pest issues.
  • Operates grounds equipment such as mowers, line trimmers, blowers, chain saws, water pumps, etc.
  • Operates UT MSI vehicles to transport grounds personnel, grounds equipment, grounds supplies, appliances, furniture, etc.
  • Assists other departments, such as custodial or maintenance, with moving furniture, appliances, and supplies.
Required Qualifications
  • Use of hand and power tools applicable to the trade.
  • Valid Texas driver's license.
  • Lift, pull, and push up to 50 lbs.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Six months to one year of experience in a commercial environment.
Driving Required

This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).

Salary

Range

$31,200+ depending on qualifications.

Working Conditions
  • Exposure to adverse weather conditions and hazards such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke and loud noises.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs.
  • May work in all weather conditions.
