Join Our Team as a Locum Nurse Practitioner – General Medicine in Houston, TX
Are you a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner with a passion for serving veterans and a desire for flexible, meaningful work? We are seeking dedicated Locum Nurse Practitioners to conduct Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments on a short-term basis.

In this pivotal role, you will perform interview-based assessments with minimal physical exams, focusing on veteran evaluations. The position involves working independently using your own office space in select Texas locations, with opportunities for both half-day and full-day shifts, providing the flexibility to balance your professional and personal commitments. The work is non-treatment, non-prescriptive, and involves quick credentialing and onboarding processes.
Required Skills:
- Active Nurse Practitioner license in Texas
- Background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine
- Experience or familiarity with compensation and pension examinations
- Strong assessment and communication skills
- Ability to perform both interview-based and limited physical assessments (range of motion, muscle strength testing)
Skills:
- Prior experience conducting veteran assessments
- Certifications relevant to medical evaluations or veteran services
- Familiarity with electronic health records and documentation procedures
Education and Experience:
- Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing
- At least 2 years of clinical experience, preferably in general or internal medicine
- Previous experience in a military or veteran healthcare setting is advantageous
- Own a dedicated office location in Uvalde or Ft. Davis, TX
- Willingness to work on a PRN, ongoing basis
- Ability to meet credentialing and onboarding requirements promptly
- No need for travel outside of local assignments; travel and licensure reimbursements provided when applicable
- No prescribing or treatment involved
- Must adhere to the specified rate structure: $600 for half-day (4 hours or less), $1200 for full-day (5 or more hours), with a one-time bonus of $650 upon completing training and first exams
