About the Position
Locum - Nurse Practitioner - General Medicine Houston, TX
Are you a dedicated Nurse Practitioner with a passion for serving Veterans and a background in general medicine? Join our team as a Locum Provider and play a vital role in conducting Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments nationwide. This flexible opportunity allows you to work autonomously in your own office locations, providing meaningful support to our nation's heroes while enjoying competitive pay and excellent benefits.
In this role, you will perform primarily interview-based assessments with some physical examinations, focusing on range of motion and muscle strength testing. There is no prescribing or treatment involved. The position offers ongoing PRN work, with options to work half or full days, accommodating your schedule. Quick credentialing and onboarding streamline your start, enabling you to begin making an impact swiftly.
This opportunity is ideal for professionals with a background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or those experienced in compensation and pension evaluations.
Required Skills:
Active Nurse Practitioner license in Texas
Proven experience in general medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, or related fields
Strong interview and physical assessment skills
Ability to work independently in a clinical setting
Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills
Nice to Have
Skills:
Prior experience with compensation and pension exams
Knowledge of Veterans' healthcare processes
Certification in occupational health or related areas
Preferred
Education and Experience:
Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program
At least 2 years of clinical practice as a Nurse Practitioner
Experience conducting medical assessments for government or military sectors
Other Requirements:
Own and operate a private office space in Uvalde or Ft. Davis, TX
Willingness to perform both interview-based exams and physical assessments
Ability to dedicate 4-hour or 8-hour shifts as needed
Compliance with all state and federal regulations
