The Position

The Ambulatory Infusion Center (AIC) Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) provides direct patient care for assigned patients receiving infusion therapy and related nursing services within the ambulatory infusion center setting. The AIC LVN delivers care in accordance with established care matrices, physician orders, state nursing laws, and organizational policies, under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), physician, or other licensed provider as required by state regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care for infusion and injection therapies as ordered, including IVIG, biologics, and other infusible or injectable medications, within scope of LVN practice and state nursing regulations
  • Responsible for daily inventory management of specialty drug therapies in the AIC
  • Provide patient and caregiver education related to infusion therapy, medications, post-infusion care, and safety under RN direction
  • Accurately document all patient care, assessments, interventions, and communications in a timely and efficient manner
  • Establish and maintain peripheral intravenous lines (PIV) access and assist with accessing and maintaining central venous lines (e.g., PICC lines, implanted ports, midlines) as permitted by state nursing laws and organizational policy
  • Perform daily medication preparation and administration according to policies, procedures, and scope of practice
  • Triage infusion-related patient inquiries and elevate clinical concerns to the RN or provider as appropriate
  • Perform focused patient assessments and report findings, changes in condition, and concerns promptly to the supervising RN or provider
  • Support clinic operations through clear communication and collaboration with pharmacists, RNs, providers, and other care team members
  • Participate in performance improvement and quality initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care and clinic operations
  • Adhere to all safety, infection control, and regulatory standards in the delivery of patient care
  • Manage and maintain AIC clinical supplies, including inventory support and restocking
  • Clean and disinfect patient care areas and equipment in accordance with infection control policies
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of and compliance with all organizational policies, procedures, and standards related to job performance
Schedule
  • Full-Time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7am - 3:30pm
  • Inventory Management Experience preferred
  • Must be licensed as an LVN in the state of Texas
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) program
  • Current LVN license in the applicable state, in good standing
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, with prior experience in infusion therapy strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of infusion therapies, venous access, and patient monitoring within scope of practice
  • Excellent patient care, communication, and customer service skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced ambulatory infusion environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license with no significant restrictions
  • Must be comfortable with lifting up to 50 pounds routinely
  • Pharmacy technician or similar experience a plus
