Position OverviewMartin County Hospital District (MCHD) was organized in 1967 and has boundaries coterminous with Martin County, Texas. It is located in the heart of West Texas. The new 18‑bed facility opened in 2012 on I‑20 and is designated as a Critical Access Hospital.
This Med Surg PRN position involves 12‑hour shifts (days, nights, weekends). The RN administers medications and treatments as ordered by physicians and in keeping with current clinical nursing practice. The RN directs, monitors, and evaluates care delegated to non‑licensed personnel ensuring a safe environment. The RN performs cross‑training across patient care departments to ensure adequate staffing levels.
ResponsibilitiesHas principal responsibility for the total nursing care, assessment, documentation, planning, implementation, evaluation, and discharge process of each assigned patient to attain optimal health and continuity of care.
Requirements- Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing.
- Licenses/Certificates:
- Current Registered Nurse license certified by the State of Texas or licensure from a state within the nursing compact required.
- Hold current CPR/BLS or obtain upon hire.
- Credentials in an advanced cardiac life support course (e.g., ACLS or hospital equivalent) preferred.
- Credentials in a nationally recognized pediatric advanced life support course (e.g., PALS or ENPC) preferred.
- TNCC preferred.
- Experience: One (1) year experience as a Professional Registered Nurse in a hospital environment preferred.
