Marketing Associate
Fossil Rim Wildlife Center: Fossil Rim Wildlife Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit conservation organization dedicated to protecting endangered species through innovative breeding programs, conservation education, and immersive safari experiences. Located on 1,800 acres in Glen Rose, Texas, Fossil Rim welcomes more than 200,000 guests annually while advancing meaningful conservation work with global impact.
Summary/Purpose of Position
:
The Marketing Associate supports the Marketing Manager in executing Fossil Rim Wildlife Center’s marketing strategy. This role is responsible for day-to-day content development, digital engagement, and administrative support across marketing channels. The Marketing Associate will help produce social media, website, email, and print content; assist with campaign execution; and provide on-the-ground support for promotions and events.
This is a hands-on position ideal for someone eager to gain experience in nonprofit, tourism, and conservation marketing.
Specific/Mandatory Duties The essential responsibilities of the Marketing Associate include but are necessarily limited to the following:
Marketing & Communications- Create and schedule content for Fossil Rim’s social media platforms, blogs, and digital newsletters, ensuring brand and mission consistency.
- Write, edit, and proof content for digital and print channels (social posts, blogs, signage, brochures, rack cards).
- Maintain the Fossil Rim website by updating text, images, and event/program information.
- Assist in the development of marketing collateral by gathering images, proofreading, and coordinating print/digital files.
- Capture photos and short videos of wildlife, guests, staff, and events for marketing use.
- Monitor & respond to social media comments and messages; escalate issues and summarize feedback for the Marketing Manager.
- Stay current on relevant news, conservation topics, and trends to inform content.
- Support email marketing campaigns by gathering content, preparing drafts, and assisting with list management.
- Compile basic performance data for social media, email, and website, preparing reports for the Marketing Manager.
- Track and organize online reviews, visitor comments, and competitor activity.
- Assist the Marketing Manager with campaign execution, media monitoring, and tourism/partner promotions.
- Provide logistical support for events, promotions, and community outreach activities.
- Coordinate with internal departments to gather information for marketing initiatives.
- Help maintain digital asset libraries, marketing files, and project documentation.
- Provide general administrative support to the Marketing Manager and Director of Marketing & Development.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in marketing, digital media, or communications.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with strong attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, Linked In), scheduling tools, and website content management systems. Experience with Word Press is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign) preferred but not required.
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and receptive to feedback, with a strong desire to grow and learn.
- Experience with photo and video editing is preferred but not required.
- Interest in wildlife conservation, education, or tourism is strongly preferred.
