The Economic Development & Marketing Coordinator supports the Economic Development Office by managing marketing, communications, events, and community engagement efforts that promote business growth, investment, and quality of place. This position plays a critical role in telling Pilot Point’s story supporting existing businesses, attracting new investment, and strengthening relationships with community partners through strategic marketing, events, and outreach.
- Develop and implement marketing and communications initiatives that support economic development goals and community branding
- Manage and update the Economic Development websites, ensuring content is accurate, current, and aligned with branding and strategic priorities
- Plan, create, and schedule content for social media platforms (economic development, business recruitment, and community storytelling)
- Assist in the creation of marketing materials including brochures, flyers, presentations, newsletters, and reports
- Support branding and messaging for initiatives such as business retention, recruitment, workforce development, and downtown revitalization
- Coordinate and support economic development–related events, including:
- Event and facilities management of 1902 Central Hall
- Business openings and expansions
- Groundbreakings and ribbon cuttings
- Workshops, forums, and stakeholder meetings
- Community and partner events tied to economic development initiatives
- Assist with event logistics, promotion, vendor coordination, and on-site support
- Track event outcomes and assist with post-event follow-up and reporting
- Support business retention and expansion (BRE) efforts through outreach, visits, and communications
- Assist with maintaining business databases, contact lists, and project tracking
- Collaborate with the Chamber of Commerce, Main Street, City departments, schools, and regional partners
- Help communicate economic development programs, incentives, and resources to local businesses
- Assist the Executive Director with project coordination, reporting, and presentations
- Support grant programs, incentive programs, and special initiatives through marketing and documentation
- Help prepare board materials, annual reports, and public-facing content
- Maintain organized records of marketing assets, photography, and digital content
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, business or urban planning, or 3+ years relevant experience
- 2+ years of experience in marketing, communications, event coordination, or community engagement (municipal, nonprofit, or economic development experience a plus)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience managing websites and social media platforms
- Graphic design, Adobe, or similar creative tools experience preferred
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills and comfort working with business owners, elected officials, and community partners
- Self-starter with attention to detail and a collaborative mindset
- Passion for community development and economic vitality

- Professional, approachable, and service-focused
- Comfortable representing the City/Economic Development Office in public settings
This position expands the capacity of the Economic Development Office by ensuring consistent, professional communication and engagement helping tell Pilot Point’s story, support local businesses, and position the community for sustainable growth.
